Find out if you're one of the brainiest people in the country with this deceptively difficult brainteaser. If you're still boasting about your GCSE results, think you're the brains of the family, and expect a Mensa membership card landing in your mail box any day now - this puzzle is for you.
However, intellect alone won't guarantee you'll come out victorious. With a tight time constraint of just nine seconds, you'll have to be unflappable under pressure and be confident in making decisions quickly. Getting a little bit worried now?. Remember, brainteasers aren't just an ideal way off showing off your intelligence or getting competitive with your friends. One study published in the National Library of Medicine actually found 'games positively influence the central nervous system and activate stress path, leading to changes in brain signals and subsequently improved cognitive elements, such as attention among players'.
"You are in a room that has three switches and a closed door," the riddle reads. "The switches control three light bulbs on the other side of the door. Once you open the door, you may never touch the switches again. How can you definitively tell which switch is connected to each of the light bulbs?".
