Pauline Quirke's last public appearance saw her proudly receiving an MBE at Windsor Castle, just two years before she revealed she has been diagnosed with dementia. Her husband Steve Sheen revealed on Monday that the Birds Of A Feather star, 65, is set to 'step away from all commercial and professional duties,' after she was first diagnosed with the disease in 2021.
The statement came almost two years to the day that Pauline made her last public outing to be awarded with an MBE for services to young people, entertainment and charity. The actress beamed with pride as Prince William bestowed her with the honour in February 2023.
She looked the epitome of sophistication in a smart black coat and an elegant net fascinator, as the Prince of Wales shook her hand. As well as her role in the comedy Birds Of A Feather, Pauline also had roles in Emmerdale, Broadchurch and a BAFTA-nominated performance in The Sculptress.
