Matt Wallace has revealed his main incentive this season on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour is to earn a long-awaited spot in Luke Donald's European Ryder Cup team. Wallace is yet to feature on the Ryder Cup stage, having previously come close to competing for his continent back in 2018. That season, the Englishman won three times on the European circuit, but agonisingly missed out on a pick after captain Thomas Bjorn opted to go with the experience of Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter, Paul Casey and Henrik Stenson.

Seven years on from his near-miss, Wallace appears more determined than ever to do enough to earn one of the six automatic European spots, or catch the eye of Donald as one of his captain's picks. “Everyone knows how much I want to be there," Wallace told Mirror Sport of the Ryder Cup at this week's Hero Dubai Desert Classic. After a strong finish to 2024 on the DP World Tour, the Englishman finds himself fourth in the European rankings, only bettered by Rasmus Hojgaard, Tyrrell Hatton and Rory McIlroy.

And with double points on offer at this week's Rolex Series event in the Middle East, Wallace is keen to make the most of the opportunity. "I have to produce now until the rankings stop," he added. "I am in a decent spot, that is why I came back to Europe and started out here.

"We are going to carry on, hopefully have a big week this week with the points being doubled. That is all I care about, that is my incentive. I care about scoring points on the Ryder Cup list, and if you are high up on the Ryder Cup list you will high up the other lists, so that is my main focus and hopefully go and get that. My end goal is Ryder Cup.".
