Pinwheel launches smartwatch for kids with location tracking and AI chatbot A groundbreaking smartwatch tailored for kids, loaded with safety features and complete with a "kid-safe" version of ChatGPT has been unveiled at CES in Las Vegas.
Unlike the phones which sport Pinwheel software on Samsung and Google handsets, the Watch is Pinwheel's own original hardware featuring a carefully curated app store, remote location tracking for parents, and text message monitoring capabilities.
Dane Witbeck, the founder and chief executive of Pinwheel, explained that customer feedback indicated some were hesitant to give their children phones, opting for a watch that ensures sustained use and access to the digital world minus its inherent risks.
The creator of a new child-friendly AI has spoken out about the safety measures they've implemented, saying: "So what we’ve done is put a safety layer inside it between us and OpenAI, and we make sure that all the content that comes through PinwheelGPT is kid-safe, kid-appropriate.
The Pinwheel Watch marks the child-friendly tech firm's first foray into wearable devices, following their launch of two smartphone options in the UK last year.
