The Premier League claimed at the time that the issue needed a swift resolution, and that this issue was too complex to consider in the necessary timeframe as they dished out Everton's second punishment last term.

The issue surrounded how Everton had accounted for interest in relation to the loans which had, according to the club, been used to build the club's new stadium, into which they will move next season.

But overhanging at the club - who suffered TWO points deductions last season - remained an issue which was highlighted 12 months ago when the Merseysiders were punished for the second time.
