Prince Harry 'no closer to mending royal rift' – but Kate Middleton 'could change everything'

Christmas is a time for families to come together, but brothers Prince William and Prince Harry remain estranged as 2024 comes to a close. The Prince and Princess of Wales, along with other members of the Royal Family, including King Charles and Queen Camilla, were seen greeting the crowds at Sandringham on Christmas Day, while Harry and his wife Meghan spent their Christmas thousands of miles away in Montecito, California with their children.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond has noticed that there is a big difference in the coverage the two separate families are receiving, with the royal family in the UK getting much positive attention for their public appearances, including Kate’s carol concert. However, Harry and Meghan have had more negative press, with reports that Meghan would like to become “American royalty,” while Betterup, a mental health firm Harry has been associated with has been described as a “psychologically unsafe place to work” by past and present employees, according to a report in the Mail.
“They had their own private Christmas thousands of miles away and hopefully they had a good time,” Jennie says of Harry and Megan and their children, Archie and Lilibet. “Meanwhile, our royal family put themselves on parade and consequently enjoyed a great deal of extremely positive public approval and publicity. If Harry and Meghan troubled to take note of the positive feedback around the royals here, they would probably have been happy that the King and Catherine were well enough to be out and about after their cancer diagnoses. They are not heartless. As for the negative publicity surrounding themselves, I hope they have learned to ignore it.”.
