Philippe Clement wants Rangers to put on a special performance against struggling Manchester United in the Europa League this week. Ruben Amorim described his hapless team as the worst in the club’s history following a 3-1 home defeat to Brighton. Speaking after easing into the Scottish Cup last 16 with a 5-0 thrashing of Highland League Fraserburgh, Clement demanded his players embrace the pressure of a trip to the Theatre of Dreams on Thursday night.
Clement wants Rangers to do something 'really special' against Manchester United. Striker Cyriel Dessers scored a hat-trick in Rangers' 5-0 win against Fraserburgh at Ibrox. Currently on 11 points — one behind United — a top-24 finish would see the Ibrox side secure a play-off place, while a result at Old Trafford could even enhance hopes of progressing straight to the last 16.
‘I want pressure,’ he said. ‘I want my team to be ambitious. They have worked really hard to be in a good position in the Europa League. ‘We know their level. But we’re going there to fight and that’s our ambition, to show ourselves and to do something really special.’.
