Matildas star Sam Kerr appeared in court today charged with the racially aggravated harassment of a police officer on January 30, 2023. The 31-year-old called a Metropolitan police officer 'stupid and white' after she had vomited in a taxi and smashed it's window, a court heard. The incident took place in the early hours of the morning in southwest London, with the Chelsea star alleged to have abused PC Stephen Lovell.

The trial began on Monday with Kerr having previously pled not guilty to the charge at a court heaing in March. Body camera footage was shown to the court which showed Kerr speaking with police at Twickenham Police Station before she was arrested. Kerr appeared in Kingston Crown Court on Monday over charges of racially aggrivated assault. Mewis - We couldn’t get out. Kerr - We could not get out of the car. I’ve got all the f***ing people in the world. Do you believe a taxi driver… why are you saying we have to pay £850? He would not let us go. Lovell – As it stands what you have told me doesn’t substantiate to any offences. Kerr – He was holding us hostage.

Lovell – He has driven you to a police station. He has been told to drive to a police station when he phoned police. Kerr – File a police report. That is f***ing bulls***. We were begging to get out of there. I will have the best lawyers. These two white men…. Mewis – [Sobbing] I don’t think it’s their fault. I think this guy has recruited them. Kerr – We were trying to get out of his cab. We called the police as well. We were held hostage in that car.

Lovell – If you’ve called police, do you have a reference for it?. Kerr – We are both internationals so we don’t have the police number. Mewis – Is it 911 or 912?. Lovell – Is there any reason why he would take you hostage?. Mewis – He wouldn’t stop driving around. Kerr – I hate to break it to you but when the male is driving the car fast with two women, it’s f***ed. It’s f***ing scary. You are acting like we are lying.

Lovell – Why did the window get broken?. Kerr – Because he would not stop. I have got no problem paying the…he would not stop. Kerr, 31, signed for Chelsea in 2019 and has not played for the football club since rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament in January last year. Lovell – This is what I’m telling you. He’s driven to a police station. Kerr – If you’re saying a crazy taxi driver is going to drive us around London, which I have a recording off….

Mewis – He was driving around in circles. Lovell – He was instructed to go to the nearest police station. Kerr – Listen to the recording. Because I would never say no to paying. He’s a f***ing taxi driver, we know we’re getting in to pay. He’s making that s*** up. It’s his word against ours and it’s two against one. Listen to the recording. You are believing that guy out the front over £50. This stupid **** wouldn’t let us go. Lovell – And someone was sick in the back of the taxi, so it’s more. Kerr - £60 £100 I don’t care. Lovell – Please adjust your tone if you don’t want to be arrested for being drunk and disorderly. Mewis – I understand what you’re saying but this is so appalling to us. Lovell – You said you’re willing to pay for the damages?. Lovell – You damaged his car. Kerr – Put your shoes in some female shoes. We were trapped for 20 minutes in this guy’s car and…you have to understand the emergency we felt in. Look what happened last year when a girl accepted a police officer’s help and got raped and murdered. Both of us were very scared. We had been driving around in his car for 20 minutes. The Matildas star arrived at Kingston Crown Court shortly after 11am dressed in all black. Lovell – The thing is if I was trapped in someone’s car I would call the police. Kerr – But you are also a man so you don’t understand. Lovell – I do understand. I have listened to you a lot, because I have no choice because you are a very loud person. There is no recording. Kerr – What about that chick who got raped and murdered?.
