Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) recently returned to Coronation Street as a reformed character, but is there more to his transformation than meets the eye?. When sister Carla Connor (Alison King) contracted sepsis earlier this year, she was left with significant damage to her kidney. With the factory boss in need of a transplant, nephew Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) paid dad Rob a visit in prison and begged him to donate one of his organs.

Carla and Rob hadn’t left things on good terms the last time they spoke, so Rob initially refused. However, he soon had a change of heart, revealing that he had found God and wanted to save Carla’s life. After much consideration, Carla reluctantly agreed to let Rob get tested, leaving her family relieved. Up Next. In upcoming scenes, Carla informs girlfriend Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) that if the tests prove that Rob is a match, then she will need to pay a deposit, having been forced to go private for her operation due to the cost of keeping a prisoner in hospital. Carla heads to the prison to update Rob, explaining that they will be able to do the tests in prison. Rob is instantly taken aback, having assumed he would have to go to hospital.

But why is Rob so annoyed at this development? Could he have an ulterior motive for donating his kidney to Carla?. We know that it is set to be revealed that Rob is having an illegal affair with prison guard Mandy – could she be plotting to help him escape?. It’s the longest relationship that he’s ever had.

‘He feels that Carla is the only person who would truly understand him, even above Tracy, because of everything that they experienced together growing up. ‘So regardless of what behaviour Rob shows or what he expresses, deep down underneath everything is, is a lot of love.’.
