RONNIE O’SULLIVAN came for Michael van Gerwen on live TV after the Dutchman’s actions in his World Darts Championship final defeat to Luke Littler. Van Gerwen was trounced 7-3 on the Ally Pally stage this month as Littler secured his first world title aged just 17.
The teen was in magnificent form as he swept his opponent away. And Van Gerwen couldn’t get off the stage quick enough once defeat had been confirmed. Now, O’Sullivan has had his say on the epic battle. The snooker legend compared the darts final to the current Masters tournament taking place this week.
O’Sullivan was meant to be competing for the trophy before pulling out at the last minute. But that didn't stop him from predicting who will be crowned Masters champ. O’Sullivan declared that Judd Trump would likely take his title this week. And he reckoned the world No1 was just like Littler, while rival Mark Selby gave him vibes of Van Gerwen.

In a dig at the Dutchman, O’Sullivan said: “I obviously think Trump has to be favourite for every tournament he plays, so a lot of us kind of take him out of it and think, who’s second?. “Who’s the one who might get past him? For me, that would have to be Selby at the moment, but I don’t think Selby relishes playing Judd.
“I think it was like when Van Gerwen played Luke Littler. He looked like he didn’t want to be there, he didn’t fancy the job. “I think if Mark can get his head around playing Judd, and that’s all it is because they’re both amazing players, he’ll have a great chance.
