Rory McIlroy couldn't resist teasing NBA icon Charles Barkley during commentary, just before taking the crown at 'The Showdown' in Las Vegas. This past Tuesday saw golf aces McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler brilliantly eclipse their LIV Golf adversaries Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau, clinching a hefty prize purse reportedly no less than $10 million. Barkley's passion for golf is well-known; he's an avid player and year-round follower of the sport, as well as part of TNT's 'Inside the NBA' team, presenting with Shaquille O'Neal, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson. 'The Showdown's' format was split into three parts, each consisting of six holes, mimicking the feel of the Ryder Cup. .
Starting with best ball in the initial six, it moved on to alternate shots for the next set, and finished off with individual matches in the closing segment. Rory McIlroy shone brightly in the renowned match, where he and his PGA Tour colleague took charge right from the outset. After a stunning 40-foot birdie putt by McIlroy on hole four, the pair seized the first victory of the evening.
