Manchester United-linked left-back Nuno Mendes has no plans to extend his Paris Saint-Germain contract. Mendes, who worked with United boss Ruben Amorim at Sporting Lisbon, has been on PSG's books since the summer of 2022. His current deal expires at the end of next season, though, and the French club could be tempted to cash in if a suitable offer arrives.

Amorim has found things tough at Old Trafford after replacing Erik ten Hag in the dugout. After taking seven points from his first five matches in charge, the former Sporting boss has overseen three straight defeats without his team scoring a single goal.

The suitability of United's players to his preferred 3-4-3 set-up has been raised, with Diogo Dalot regularly filling in down the left. Mendes is one of a number of left-sided experts to be linked, along with Alphonso Davies and Theo Hernandez, and fresh developments could give Amorim encouragement.

According to Sky Germany, Mendes is considering his options after deciding a PSG extension isn't a priority. The 22-year-old won't be rushed into a decision, but United are said to be closely monitoring his situation. Mendes was a week shy of his 18th birthday when Amorim handed him his senior bow in Lisbon. He became one of Sporting's youngest ever scorers when he netted against Portimonense at the age of 18 years and three months, with former United star Cristiano Ronaldo and current winger Geovany Quenda among the handful of stars able to better that record.

He has been in and out of Luis Enrique's starting line-up at PSG this term, scoring once in nine Ligue 1 outings. He has also played an important part in both of his team's Champions League wins, creating the own goal winner against Girona and scoring in a 3-0 triumph against Red Bull Salzburg.
