Alan Shearer says Ruben Amorim must be allowed to overhaul Manchester United's playing squad in the wake of their poor 2-0 loss away at Wolves. The Red Devils limped to another damaging defeat after captain Bruno Fernandes saw red early in the second half. Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-Chan scored the all important goals for Wolves, who move out of the Premier League's relegation zone.

For United, a second successive league defeat leaves them languishing in 14th place. It's also another loss for Amorim, who has had to endure a number of challenges since leaving Sporting Lisbon last month. Shearer was asked about Amorim's tough start to life at Old Trafford on Match of the Day and pointed out all the issues the Portuguese coach is currently contending with.

"Results, issues off the field, Rashford," Shearer said. "He [Amorim] said it himself, they’re going to have to suffer for a while. And they are, because clearly a lot of the players at that football club are not good enough. "He has to be able to get rid of players and be allowed to bring players in who he feels can suit his system. But they are miles off it.".

Unfortunately for Amorim, it's understood that he will not have a wealth of funds to spend in the January window. Outgoings could even be needed to facilitate any new arrivals after United spent over £180million in the summer. Join the debate! Where do you think Man Utd should strengthen in January?
