The reason behind Ruben Amorim’s decision to freeze Marcus Rashford out of his Manchester United first-team plans has reportedly emerged. Rashford scored two goals in Amorim’s first three games in charge at Old Trafford but now appears to have been deemed surplus to requirements.

The 27-year-old has not played a single minute since missing out on the matchday squad for the Manchester Derby, although he did return to the bench for last Monday’s defeat against Newcastle. And it has now emerged that Amorim’s decision to drop Rashford was motivated by rumours that the forward had been out in Manchester on the Friday before their clash with Everton on Sunday, November 1.

While Rashford did score a brace in the 4-0 win, Amorim quickly found out the news, leading to a frank conversation between the pair, according to The Athletic. Rashford has previously landed himself in hot water with nights out having been fined two weeks’ wages after he was caught partying in a Belfast nightclub in January last year.

While Rashford is said to have denied going out on the night in question, his stading under Amorim has not recovered since. Rashford was dropped to the bench for the subsequent game against Arsenal in midweek and has made just one start since, in a Europa League clash with Viktoria Plzen.

Faced with few first-team opportunities under Amorim, the England international is considering his future at his boyhood club and recently admitting he is ready for a ‘new challenge’. Rashford has already received money spinning offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia but wants to remain in Europe to aid his chances of returning to the international fold.
