Sponsored by. RYAN GIGGS was in the dugout yesterday as Salford City beat Notts County 3-0. The former Manchester United winger, 51, could be seen assisting boss Karl Robinson at the Peninsula Stadium. Giggs is a part-owner of the League Two club. And yesterday he could be seen taking a more hands-on role with the Ammies.
He was pictures chatting with Robinson on the pitch ahead of the game. While during the match he sat in the dugout with other members of Salford's coaching staff. Giggs has not held a coaching position since resigning as Wales national team boss in 2022.
Robert Page had been caretaker boss since 2020, when Giggs was arrested on assault charges. Giggs, who has always denied any wrongdoing, formally stepped down as Wales boss ahead of his trial. A jury failed to reach a verdict in 2022, before the prospect of a second trial collapsed the following year.
He returned to football in March, when he was appointed Salford's new director of football. In November he was seen on the touchline with Robinson as Salford drew 2-2 with Fleetwood. While he was also present as the Ammies beat Shrewsbury 2-1 in the FA Cup.
