With just days to go until Christmas, schools across the country have been slowing down ready for a well-deserved break for its staff and students. To celebrate the end of the calendar year, many educational institutions have been dishing up special Christmas dinners in their canteens, featuring turkey, potatoes, vegetables and a pudding.
However, a student has sparked a debate after sharing their school's Christmas lunch on Reddit and expressing their disappointment. While some users agreed the school could have done better, others are struggling to understand the issue, saying it looks great.
One user said: "You can't knock that for a school dinner." Another user added: "I absolutely miss school purely for school dinners, especially primary school dinners! Burger day was the s***. It sounds weird, but I'd have a scoop of mash or two, a government issued burger and gravy all over it.
"And one primary I went to would have seconds. And when they shouted that? I was like sonic the hedgehog himself. You probably have figured out that I rate this a 10/10 purely cos it's a school dinner. I want it. Now.". A third user said: "Looks decent, actually. I wouldn't complain. Veg looks boiled not roasted, but I understand that it would take so much more time and effort." However, on the other side of things, another user said: "Those carrots look like they’re out of a tin.".
One more agreed: "We deliberately have 'school dinners' or 'prison dinners' in our house occasionally and we are grandparents. We remember the school dinners but not prison dinners. We just call them that. The school dinners are a nostalgia thing." Finally, another said: "Oh god that's depressing.".
