SIR Keir Starmer yesterday refused to back Donald Trump’s blitz on a “kangaroo court” led by a top British lawyer. No10 has “no plans” to punish officials at the International Criminal Court — including chief prosecutor Karim Khan. It put Britain at odds with US President Mr Trump. He sanctioned ICC officials and condemned its “illegitimate and baseless” probes into the US and allies, including Israel.

The ICC has an arrest warrant out for Israel’s PM, Benjamin Netanyahu, for alleged war crimes in Gaza. Mr Trump met him in Washington two days ago. Yesterday, a spokesman for Sir Keir said the UK supported the ICC’s “independence” and the UK is among 79 countries issuing a joint statement backing the ICC. Trump has condemned it as a “kangaroo court” and sanctioned Khan’s predecessor Fatou Bensouda in 2020.
