Soon after turning 18, Ryan's gambling addiction quickly spiralled when he was legally able to download sports betting apps, which made everything '100 times worse'.

When his wages and money stolen from his grandparents was no longer enough to fuel his addiction, Ryan began stealing from Coles and Woolworths, estimating that he stole $80,000 worth of goods over a period of three years.

Soon Ryan was visiting the TAB three or four times a week after school and using his lunch money to put on bets.

Legally able to download sports and betting apps, Ryan no longer had to get himself to the TAB; he had it all at his fingertips and it made things '100 times worse'.

Ryan Armstrong quickly developed an addiction to sports betting after visiting a TAB for the first time at 15.
