Ali, whose Instagram videos have been watched millions of times, says: “I’ve found that cheap fabric conditioners are just as good as the expensive ones and you can keep clothes fresher by cleaning your washing machine every six months.
Clean queen Alison Chadwick from Stockport near Manchester, who has 161,000 followers on Instagram, says that while the French guidelines sound a bit whiffy, there are hacks to keep your clothes smelling fragrant without needing a hot wash.
T-shirts should be worn up to five times, jeans 30 times and sportswear a whopping three times before they can be washed, while bras can go into the washing machine after seven days and bedsheets weekly.
But Ali, 43, who lives with her business owner husband Robert, 43, and their children George, 10, and Reggie, 12, couldn’t live with some of the French advice - like washing bras once a week.
“Anything that you’re wearing close to the skin - like T-shirts, sportswear and bras - need to be washed more often, but outer clothes can be worn for longer and there are ways you can keep them fresh,” she says.
