A police spokesman said: "South Wales Police is aware of some incidents of disorder that have taken place in Cardiff city centre ahead of today's Championship match between Cardiff City and Bristol City at Cardiff City Stadium.

Yobs were seen clashing with police, both on foot and horseback, after the Cardiff City v Bristol City clash sparked violence among football hooligans.

The match kicked off at Cardiff City Stadium before shocking disorder erupted at the junction of St Mary Street and Wood Street.

Bristol City are currently winning 1 - 0 against Cardiff City.

Cardiff Council leader Huw Thomas thanked the police and said there are "no ongoing issues" in the city centre.
