Supermarket New Year opening times for Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, Asda, Sainsbury's and more

Supermarkets including Tesco, Aldi and Asda will be adjusting their opening hours over New Year. This means, whether you're going out or staying in, you'll probably need to visit a store for a top-up of food and drink over the next few days. Opening times do vary across the country, but to help give you a general idea of what to expect, we've searched stores online to see when they'll be open on New Year's Eve, which is on Tuesday next week, and then New Year's Day, which is on the Wednesday.
To get the most accurate times for your local store, make sure you use the relevant store finder tool and enter your postcode to find your nearest shop. . Aldi stores will open from 8am until 6pm on New Year’s Eve, then they will stay closed on New Year’s Day. Its normal hours will resume on Friday, January 2.
Larger Asda stores will open at either 6am or 7am, unless it is a 24-hour branch, and then close at 7pm, on New Year’s Eve. The majority of stores we checked were then scheduled to open from 9am until 6pm on New Year’s Day. Its smaller Asda Express stores have varying opening hours, with some open for 24 hours, and others open from 7am until either 7pm until 10pm.
If you’re a Lidl shopper, stores will open from 8am until 6pm on New Year’s Eve, or until 7pm for branches inside the M25. Then on New Year’s Day, the majority of Lidl stores will be closed, apart from ones inside the M25 which will be open from 10am until 6pm.
