A SURPRISING supermarket is selling tubs of Celebrations chocolate for cheaper than rivals like Tesco and Asda. The Co-op has slashed the price of the festive chocolate to £4 for members and £5.50 for non-members. It rivals the likes of Tesco who is charging loyalty card members £4.50 for the same 550g tub.

Asda is asking customers to pay £6 for the tub and so is Sainsbury's. The UK's fifth largest retailer is offering the discount on the chocolate selection until December 27. To get the discount you will need to sign up to become a Co-op member, which can be done online.

It costs £1 and customers get personalised offers weekly depending on what they buy. This week, the supermarket has also cut the cost of Guylian sea shells to £4.75 for members or £5.25 for non-members. You can shop the chocolate online and in-store.

Customers can find their nearest Co-op by visiting www.coop.co.uk/store-finder. It comes as shoppers will be looking to stock up on festive treats ahead of Christmas. Asda has slashed the price of a Toblerone large milk chocolate bar (360g) to just £3.

The supermarket was previously selling the Toblerone bar for £4 but has decided to further reduce it, now saving shoppers £3 on the popular stocking filler. The chocolate retails for £6 in Sainsbury’s but is £4.50 in Poundland. Tesco is the next cheapest place to buy it at £4, but at £3, Asda beats all other retailers.
