Take this quiz to discover how international your Christmas celebrations are, based on the traditions you observe. Do you enjoy participating in Elf on the Shelf or assembling a Christmas Eve box, and still have turkey on your plate on the big day? If so, your Christmas is 75% influenced by American traditions.

If you open your gifts on Christmas Eve, it's likely that your celebrations have a French twist, and if you participate in a Christmas lottery such as El Gordo, you may be drawing inspiration from Spanish customs. A poll found that 50% of 18 to 24 year olds are likely to adopt a new tradition, compared to only 5% of people over 65. Other traditions that Gen Z won't be observing this year include tipping their postman or binman and hanging mistletoe.

A spokesperson for Lottoland, which commissioned the research, said: "It looks like we are seeing an end to certain traditions that used to be popular at Christmas time.". They added: "It's a shame to see the binmen and postmen are unlikely to be tipped, but we can understand why eggnog is making its way out of fashion.".

Almost one in five millennials are planning to cook their Christmas dinner on the barbeque this December 25th. This age group is also the most likely to visit the pub on Christmas Day, a tradition only followed by one in a hundred boomers. According to a study, UK adults have been participating in their favourite annual traditions for an average of 32 years or more. Over half hope that their children will continue these festive traditions passed down through generations.
