As well as deception over who is a Faithful and who is a Traitor, plenty of secrecy surrounds the filming of The Traitors. Now into its third series, the popular BBC One show has brought plenty of twists over the years including secret mother-son duos, backstabbing sisters and brutal ‘murders’ in plain sight. But while the unpredictable turns of the show may have viewers at home second guessing every second, the production of The Traitors is also filled with little known facts that you probably didn’t realise.
From where the contestants really go to sleep to what actually happens at breakfast, here’s parts of the show where not everything is as it seems on our TV screens…. Every morning contestants head to a buffet breakfast, though it’s rare to see players tucking into plates piled high with fresh fruit and pastries. While this could be down to the anxiety of finding out who was ‘murdered’ overnight, it could also be that they’ve already had their breakfast that day.
According to former contestant John McManus, players “get breakfast served in our rooms in the hotel, before the on-screen breakfast!,” The Sun reports. And when it comes to unwinding after a day filled of drama, John added how the number of drinks contestants can have is limited. “When we come from the Round Table, we go into the bar and have a drink - we're allowed a maximum of two - and all that's real.
