Today, the five young nominees for the BAFTA EE Rising Star Award 2025 were announced at the Savoy Hotel in London. The Mirror and other publications attended the unveiling ceremony this morning, which was hosted by film critic Ali Plumb. Announcing the five lucky nominees was actor Jack O'Connell, who won the Rising Star award in 2015.

Without further ado, here are the actors nominated for this year’s BAFTA EE Rising Star Award:. Marisa Abela for her role as Amy Winehouse in Back to Black. Jharrel Jerome for his performance as Anthony Robles in the film Unstoppable. David Jonsson for his part as Andy in Alien: Romulus.

Mikey Madison for her leading role as Ani in the critically acclaimed Anora. Nabhaan Rizwan for his part as Aden in the independent film In Camera. The three British nominees - Maria, David and Nabhaan - were in attendance at the word ceremony, while American nominees Mikey and Jharrel sent in video messages from the USA.

Interestingly, all three UK actors have starred together before in the BBC drama Industry, a television series that premiered in 2020. Industry, which airs on both HBO and BBC Two, follows a group of young graduates competing for permanent positions at Pierpoint & Co, a prestigious investment bank in London.

In the show, Marisa portrays ambitious graduate Kara-Hanani, who is multi-lingual and assigned to the Foreign Exchange Sales desk at Pierpoint. In the first two seasons, David plays Augustus ‘Gus’ Sackey, who has attended both Eton and Oxford before being assigned to the Investment Banking Division desk.
