A FEMALE British skier has tragically died in a horror accidental collision with a man while on a black slope. The 65-year-old tourist was pronounced dead at the scene after she reportedly lost control of her skies and crashed into the fellow Brit at the Les Arcs resort in France.
The unnamed woman is said to have crashed head-on into a 35-year-old man on the black slope of the Aiguille Rouge run. The British man was stood still at the time and suffered a broken leg, according to French news outlet Le Dauphine,. He was quickly rushed to a local hospital.
Both victims were reportedly wearing helmets at the time of the fatal crash. It is still unclear how the woman died with investigations ongoing into the exact cause of the accident. It comes just days after three skiers died after a horrifying avalanche cascaded down a 9,300ft mountain in Italy.
The victims were dragged downhill for several hundred metres suffering fatal injuries before being found buried in snow, rescuers said. The disaster took place at around midday in the northern Piedmont region on the Italian border with Switzerland. Five skiers were caught up in the terrifying avalanche on the eastern face of Punta Valgrande.
Two others survived and were rushed to hospital by helicopter. Back in December, another European avalanche caused devastation after an 18-year-old international judo star was killed. Emre Yazgan was understood to have been climbing at the Palandoken Ski Center in Erzurum, North-East Turkey when the disaster struck.
