A couple who were found lifeless inside their home by their concerned neighbours had been dead for several months. Emergency services raced to the home following the shock discovery at the property in the village of Glenbei in Co Kerry, Ireland. Locals decided to visit the property after noticing that the pair had not been seen for months. Gardai addressed the tragedy and said they are investigating a line of inquiry about suspected carbon monoxide poisoning. The force believes their cause of death is not suspicious.

Officials are awaiting the results of a postmortem examination to uncover more information surrounding the mystery deaths. According to sources, the couple are thought to have passed away in a personal incident that had been planned out and carried through in late 2024. The couple, who were reportedly 'somewhat reclusive', are believed to have lain dead since then. In recent days, locals visited the home due to concerns about not having seen either the man or woman for some time, reports the Irish Mirror. They then discovered the bodies of the couple inside the house.

In a press release, Gardai stated they are "investigating all the circumstances following the discovery of two bodies today, Tuesday 4th February 2025 in Glenbeigh, Co. Kerry. "The bodies of a man and a woman, both believed to be in their 50s, were discovered at a domestic residence earlier today," a spokesperson said. "The scene remains preserved at this time and an examination by the Garda Technical Bureau will take place today. The Coroner and the office of the State Pathologist have been notified. The two bodies currently remain at the scene, pending preliminary technical examination, and will be removed for a postmortem examination, which will take place in due course. Results of the post-mortem will determine the exact course of the Garda investigation.".
