Less than two weeks remain for Premier League clubs and their rivals across some top European leagues to complete their January transfer business, and Manchester United are among the most desperate for deals. Ruben Amorim laid bare the team's weaknesses after Sunday's defeat at home to Brighton, and a left-sided player appears to be the priority. Patrick Dorgu looks to be the front-runner, and the Danish international could join from Lecce before the week is up.

Amorim's side are also looking to offload some of the deadweight in their squad. Antony is on his way to Real Betis, while there has been plenty of interest in Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford. United's neighbours Manchester City have already dipped into their pockets, sealing a deal for Abdukodir Khusanov. It's one of only a handful of Premier League deals to have been completed at the time of writing, with Aston Villa swooping for Donyell Malen in one of the others and adding Andres Garcia on Tuesday morning.

Arsenal need to decide whether to stick or twist after former Gunners star Ian Wright urged the club to invest to help Mikel Arteta. RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko has long been expected to be the subject of a summer approach, while there has been talk of renewed interest in Dusan Vlahovic - though Chelsea could stand in the way of that.

Liverpool remain in pole position in the league, though the future of their three out-of-contract stars remains the main focus. Real Madrid's hopes of landing Trent Alexander-Arnold in January seem to have faded, but there will still be decisions for Arne Slot and the Reds' higher-ups to make.
