Trent Alexander-Arnold had a telling Liverpool celebration amid claims he is ready to quit the club. The Reds defender has just six months remaining on his contract at Anfield and would be able to open talks with foreign clubs regarding a free transfer as soon as the January transfer window opens. Spanish giants Real Madrid are among his admirers.
A move to the Bernabeu has never looked closer according to claims over recent days. Reports in Spain claimed that a deal is ‘almost complete’ and would be announced in the summer out of respect for Liverpool. But it appears that Alexander-Arnold is ready to put any speculation behind him having made a telling gesture against West Ham. The defender found the net in the Reds’ 5-0 win against the Hammers via a huge deflection off of Max Kilman - his first goal of the season.
In the celebrations, the right-back put his hand up to his ear as though it was talking. The gesture certainly got fans speculating. Taking to social media, one Reds fan said: “Trent Alexander-Arnold with an interesting celebration after scoring that goal. Wonder what he’s trying to imply,” with another saying: “Trent Alexander-Arnold sending a message with his celebration.”.
Another added: “Honestly, I’m confused about this Trent Alexander-Arnold celebration. Is he shushing Spanish rumors or Liverpool fans who think he won’t be a Liverpool legend if he signs for Real Madrid??”. And while it appears that Alexander-Arnold is not keen on tuning into any talk over his future, the same could certainly be said of his manager. Liverpool boss Arne Slot also gave an update on Alexander-Arnold and Liverpool’s other two soon-to-be out-of-contract stars after the win at the London Stadium.
