Harry Maguire sends demand to Man Utd team-mates after Ruben Amorim's brutal blast

Harry Maguire has called on Manchester United’s stars to take responsibility for their recent problems but the defender insists there are “fine margins” at play for Ruben Amorim’s strugglers. United face Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday night likely needing a result to ensure they can skip February’s play-off round.
And with the club sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table ahead of a tricky trip to face Fulham on Sunday night, centre back Maguire admits there is plenty of room for improvement. But he said their recent performances, including a shocking defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford last Sunday afternoon after which head coach Ruben Amorim claimed this could be the worst team in the club’s history, are not a question of tactical missteps. Amorim was so furious with that performance he broke a TV in the dressing room.
“If I could explain it, I think we’d change it straightaway,” Maguire said. “These players who have won lots of trophies in club football, but we’re not playing well enough as a team. We’ve got to stop looking for excuses and blaming things. It’s really important we improve.
“As players, after the game we were really frustrated and disappointed. We were confident we could beat Brighton but we didn’t perform well enough. We have to take responsibility ourselves. I go home and think about where we want to get back to: players taking responsibility and improving individually.
“We spoke about the first goal at Old Trafford and it’s not that teams are coming to Old Trafford and opening us up. It was a 50-50 game against Brighton which could have gone either way, and we gave them a goal early on that we know we needed to stop.
