Trevor Nelson has confirmed he will replace Scott Mills on Radio 2’s coveted afternoon show following Zoe Ball’s exit. The DJ, who has been hosting the 10pm to midnight slot for eight years, revealed he will begin at the end of January as he joked that it was ‘about time’ he got some ‘vitamin D.’.
Speaking at Trevor Nelson’s Soul Christmas at the Royal Albert Hall, he said: ‘Now I have a public service announcement. I will be doing the afternoon show at the end of January. ‘It's about time you got your vitamin D, cause I’m doing too many nighttime shows,’ Trevor said.

The shake-up follows the announcement that Scott Mills will take over the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show from Zoe Ball, following her departure this month after six years in the role.
In November the veteran presenter, 54, revealed on air that she would be ‘stepping away from the early alarm call’ to start a new chapter and ‘focus on family.’. She is due to host her last slot on December 20 before Scott, 51, who currently hosts Radio 2’s weekday afternoon programme from 2 - 4pm, begins fronting the programme in early January.
