Tui Blue Angora Beach hotel review: The all-inclusive that changed my mind

What’s the perfect destination for a person who hates the thought of an all-inclusive hotel? An ‘all-inclusive hotel for people who hate all-inclusive hotels’, of course. That’s how I’ve heard people describe Angora Beach, a new adults-only resort on the sandy shores of Seferihisar in Turkey’s tranquil Izmir region.
World’s away from the chaotic bazaars of Istanbul, this part of the country’s 8,000km coast is all about relaxation: a weekend here is everything you need to tap out of busy city life, and into a good book. Set on a beachfront promenade surrounded by pomegranate trees, the 4-star hotel is a one-hour drive from Izmir town and a 50-minute drive to the ancient city of Ephesus, one of the world’s most fascinating historic sites.
The Aegean coastline doesn’t quite match the powdery white sands of the Maldives, but with candyfloss sunsets and enchanting views of the Greek islands opposite, it more than passes muster. The brown sand means the beach outside the Angora is not the most inviting, but it’s still a beautiful place to chill with a drink in the evening.
Low-cost airlines fly direct from major London airports to Turkey’s Izmir region. Pegasus flies direct from London Stansted to Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport, with return fares from £186, while easyJet flies from Gatwick and Luton to Adnan Menderes from £163 return.
