Tyrrell Hatton sends clear Ryder Cup message to Luke Donald after appealing LIV Golf punishments

Tyrrell Hatton has revealed his main golf for 2025 is making the European Ryder Cup team, despite the LIV Golf star facing disciplinary action from the DP World Tour. Just under one year ago, Hatton followed in the footsteps of Jon Rahm in joining the LIV setup and the Spaniard's breakaway league franchise Legion XIII. In doing so the Englishman was punished by the DP World Tour, having been fined and suspended for competing in 'conflicting' LIV events.
On the back of the punishments, a whole host of LIV players opted to resign their DP World Tour membership, which therefore made them ineligible to compete for the European Ryder Cup team. Keen to make Luke Donald's team at Bethpage Black, Hatton has kept hold of his membership, but this does mean he is required to pay off his fines and serve a suspension to be eligible for selection. The Englishman does appear to have found a loophole though.
In order to make a return to the DP World Tour at the backend of 2024, Hatton was able to appeal his punishments, thus making him able to compete both on the Tour and the Ryder Cup. Putting this at the top of his wish list," Hatton told the Daily Mail: "Play in the Ryder Cup," when asked his prime goal for the year.
"I’ve appealed the fines but as for the process around it, that’s not something I’ve put a lot of thought into,’ he said of the punishments put to him by the DP World Tour. "All I can do is focus on how I play, but obviously I want to be at the Ryder Cup. Really want to be.".
