Brits have been told to prepare for more flooding with officials issuing a fresh set of warnings as snow and ice begin to melt. Temperatures plummeted to below zero in much of the country in the first weeks of 2025 with consistent snowfall. But as the cold snap starts to ease, there have been warnings and alerts for various regions in England that flooding could happen.

The warnings come after widespread flooding and danger to life warnings last week. Much of the flooding is connected to the severe weather conditions as snow and heavy rain battered the country. A flood warning is in place for the River Trent at Girton, meaning that flooding is expected. Another 25 flood alerts have also been issued across the south, West Midlands and East Anglia meaning that flooding is possible in those areas.

The Environment Agency added in its flood forecast for the next five days: "Local flooding is possible but not expected from groundwater in parts of the South of England for the next five days and from rivers in parts of the north of England today (Monday) and Tuesday. Land, roads and some properties may flood and there may be travel disruption.".

Chertsey Bourne. Groundwater flooding in Flamstead. Groundwater flooding in Hursley. Groundwater flooding in Kimpton and Lilley Bottom. Groundwater flooding in the Candovers and Old Alresford. Groundwater flooding in the Great Shefford area. Groundwater flooding in the Lambourn Valley catchment.
