Ukraine attacked Russia with six British Storm Shadow missiles and US-made Atacms tactical ballistic missiles in its `”biggest” attack on Moscow’s military infrastructure of the war. Kyiv launched at least 146 drones into Russia in what it described as its “largest” attack on the Russian war machine since Vladimir Putin launched his invasion in February 2022.

The offensive struck nearly 700 miles deep into the country, in the latest attempt by Kyiv to repel the Russian President’s forces despite increased pressures on the Ukrainian frontline. Russia's military on Tuesday vowed it would retaliate, saying: “The actions of the Kyiv regime, supported by its Western curators, will not go unanswered.”.

Russia's defence ministry claimed it had shot down all of the Western missiles fired by Ukraine at the Bryansk region in Tuesday’s attack, as well as drones outside the war zone. It said two more Storm Shadows had been shot down over the Black Sea. The Ukrainian General Staff said it had targeted oil storage, refinery, chemical and ammunition plants in the Bryansk, Saratov, Tula and Tatarstan regions.

Kyiv did not say exactly how it struck the targets, but said that drone and missile forces were among the units involved in the attack. Putin said in November that the Ukraine war was escalating towards a global conflict after the United States and the UK allowed Ukraine for the first time to launch their missiles deep inside Russia.
