UK's most popular holiday destination has Caribbean-worthy beaches and hidden coves

Picture a beach with soft white sands, crystal-clear waters and gorgeous lush green surroundings; you'd be forgiven for thinking we're describing a tropical paradise, but we're actually talking about a staycation hotspot. Cornwall has been named the UK's most popular holiday destination and it's not difficult to see why. For a start, the aforementioned beaches; the region is famed for being the home to some of the UK's most amazing Caribbean-worthy beaches. Porthcurno Beach alone always impresses visitors. Happy holidaymakers on Tripadvisor have described it as an "absolutely beautiful beach" with water "so clear and calm, perfect for swimming with kids", and having "pure white, soft sand". However, it's worth noting that depending on the season, you may need to keep an eye out for jellyfish in the water!.

Another must-visit spot is the breathaking Kynance Cove, which has already claimed the title as the UK's most popular beach. It's said to have some of the warmest waters in the UK, and when the tide goes out you can find plenty of caves and rockpools amidst the eye-catching rock formations. Of course it's not just the beautiful beaches that keep people coming back - there's heaps to see and do whether you're on a romantic weekend away or booking a week's summer break with the kids.

Oh, and if you head to Cornwall's best seaside town you can expect a pretty harbour, easy access to beaches and even a huge geothermal lido overlooking the sea. History buffs always flock to Tintagel Castle, with its impressive ruins and dramatic coastline that prove a hit with the social media crowd too. Meanwhile the Minack Theatre looks like something out of a storybook, and is well worth a visit if you're staying in the area for a few days.
