Scarborough, once hailed as the shining star of England's north east coast, is now receiving mixed feedback from locals and tourists alike. While the beach remains a stunning draw with its golden sands and vibrant vibes, the town centre is showing troubling signs of neglect. Famed for its gorgeous coastline and lively seafront, Scarborough Beach continues to draw crowds eager to soak in the scenic views and enjoy everything from arcades to serene coastal strolls.

Yet, concerns are emerging from some quarters about the state of the town, with complaints of it being "run down" and rife with social issues. On travel review sites, users have not held back their opinions on the disparity between the beach and the town centre of Scarborough.

One disgruntled visitor on TripAdvisor remarked: "Scarborough is a very run-down town. The beach is its saving grace... but the town is dirty, and many shops have closed down." Another chipped in, bemoaning the unfortunate state of litter-strewn streets and shuttered storefronts, noting that while the beach is a delightful haven, the town desperately needs an overhaul.

A third reviewer questioned why care for the town had dwindled, writing: "What has happened to Scarborough? We were saddened to see the amount of street litter, and crappy shops-there was nothing good on offer except one little gem of a fossil shop on the way into town.

"Why did people stop caring about this place, and the locals that live there, why aren't they giving their council hell about the state of the town? It was almost like a dumping ground, we've never seen some much rubbish, including dead wild life on the streets.".
