Wayne Gretzky was among the star names at Donald Trump's inauguration after the president tipped the hockey legend for his own position of power. Gretzky - nicknamed 'the Great One' - is considered by many to be the finest NHL player of all time. He is also the father-in-law of golf star Dustin Johnson.

Trump recently suggested that Gretzky should run for prime minister of Canada after Justin Trudeau announced he would resign from office. On Monday, the 63-year-old was spotted inside the Capitol Rotunda - alongside his wife Janet Jones - as Trump was sworn in for a second term.

Gretzky was reportedly seated near Miriam Adelson, the Dallas Mavericks majority owner, and UFC president Dana White. The Hall of Famer spent two decades in the NHL, playing for the Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, St Louis Blues and New York Rangers.

The president again hinted at his hope to see America's northern neighbor become the 51st state. 'I have some many great friends,' the 78-year-old Trump said to a crowd at Mar-a-Lago. 'One of them is the "Great One". I said, "Run for Prime Minister, you'll win… It will take two seconds."'.
