West Coast Eagles youngster learns his fate after being charged by police following an alleged embarrassing act at a music festival

West Coast Eagles young star Reuben Ginbey has learned his fate after he was charged by police after he was allegedly caught urinating in public at a music festival in January. On Wednesday, the 20-year-old received a $1000 fine and was handed a spent conviction after he pleaded guilty to charges of disorderly conduct and failing to comply with police directions.
The incident is said to have taken place at the Wildlands Festival in Brisbane on January 4. The midfielder, who was drafted to the club in 2022, was handed his sanction at Joondalup Courthouse in Perth on Wednesday after Magistrate Raelene Johnston described his conduct as a 'stupid decision'.
Ginbey, who was the Eagles' Emerging Talent winner at the club's best and fairest awards for the 2024 season, has since broken his silence on the matter. 'I would like to apologise for my actions,' he said in a statement published on the footy club's website on Wednesday.
'They were not the standard that I expect of myself, or others expect of me. 'I will learn from this and I thank the Club for their support throughout the process.'. General Manager for Football Gavin Bell added: 'Our support for Reuben will be ongoing and we will continue educating and holding our players to the values and behaviours that we expect of each other.'.
The Eagles had previously rallied around Ginbey in a bid to help the 6ft 2in youngster bounce back from the incident. Ginbey was drafted to the club in 2022 and has gone on to make 40 appearances for the West Coast over the past two seasons, notably turning out 23 times last season, averaging 15.6 disposals per game.
