MICHAEL VAN GERWEN is hoping for another massive pay day as he looks to win the World Darts Championship for a FOURTH time. Van Gerwen has endured an up and down 2024 but has made it to the semi-finals of the biggest competition of all. By reach the final four of the competition he has guaranteed himself another £100,000 - but will have his eyes on the top prize.
Michael van Gerwen has an estimated net worth of around £6million and is currently No 3 on the list of the top earners in the sport. According to the PDC Order of Merit - which is the total prize money won by players over the last two years - Van Gerwen is in third, with winnings of £815,500.
He trails reigning world champion Luke Humphries (£1,804,250) and 2023 world champion Michael Smith (£890,000) - although both players failed to do much in this year's tournament. According to the PDPA, the three-time world champion has amassed a whopping £11,564,564 of career prize money.
Along with the prize money he gets for winning tournaments, Van Gerwen enjoys a host of endorsement deals as one of the biggest faces in the sport. Van Gerwen, 35, is sponsored by a number of companies in the UK and Holland including Leyland Trade, dartshop.tv, Keuken Concurrent, Van Mossel Automotive and XQ Darts Max.
The Dutchman recently revealed he is keen to add to his car collection - which includes a £250k Rolls-Royce - if he wins a fourth world title, although the vehicle will not be another sports car. Daphne van Gerwen (born Govers) met the darts star in his native Netherlands.
