As it stands, if both sides were to win every match over the next couple of months, the ninth victory Liverpool need would come against Arsenal at Anfield in May, in what would be a fitting way to wrap up the title.
Seven of Liverpool’s 11 remaining fixtures in the Premier League are at Anfield, including one against Arsenal, and it means Mikel Arteta and his players are relying on a major drop in form from a side who have lost only once in the league this season.
Arsenal do have a game in hand over Liverpool, which will come at home to Chelsea next month when Liverpool play in the Carabao Cup final, but that is little consolation for the Gunners after a disastrous slip-up against West Ham.
However, any dropped points between now and then from Arsenal would allow Liverpool to get the job done ahead of that fixture, when they would potentially get a guard of honour from the Gunners.
If the Gunners were to put that kind of winning run together, Liverpool would need at least 26 points, or nine wins, from their remaining 11 matches to guarantee themselves as champions.
