A PRESIDENT'S inauguration is a ceremony of tradition but also a time for artists to perform to the US and the world. As Donald Trump gets ready for his second go at the iconic ceremony let's look at the artists he used in 2017. Trump's 2017 ceremony featured musicians from across different genres and levels of fame.
On the evening of January 19, 2017, a concert called the "Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration," was held in Washington D.C. Several country singers showed up for the American leader at his pre-inauguration day bash. Singer-songwriter Toby Keith performed and Lee Greenwood sang God Bless the USA.
Several bands also showed up for the new president, including The Piano Guys and rock group 3 Doors Down. The show even included electronic music from DJ Ravidrums. There was more music at the official inaugural ball on January 20, 2017. Trump and the first lady Melania Trump danced to the first song of the event, which was Frank Sinatra's "My Way" performed by Jazz Singer Erin Boheme.
Several big name stars came out and publicly stated they were asked to perform during these events. These names included music royalty like Elton John. Other hugely popular stars also revealed they refused Trump's request. This included 2 Chainz, The Beach Boys, and David Foster.
The President-elect has attracted bigger stars for the start of his second term at The White House. Country star Carrie Underwood revealed she would sing "America the Beautiful" at the January 20, 2025, event. Underwood said she was "honored" to have received the invite.
