Wicked sequel gets a new title ahead of its November 2025 release after crossing $500 million worldwide

Universal's Wicked recently passed the $500 million mark at the worldwide box office, and now its sequel has a new title. Director Jon M. Chu had always planned a two-part adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical, based on Gregory Maguire's 1995 book that showed characters from the Wizard of Oz in a whole new light.
Now the studio has revealed the sequel - formerly known as simply Wicked: Part 2 - will now be called Wicked: For Good, via The Hollywood Reporter. The studio revealed the title with a brief video on the Wicked Instagram, which already has more than 760K likes in just three hours.
The title refers to a song from the original musical - For Good - a duet between Glinda and Elphaba written by composer Stephen Schwartz. The sequel is still set for release on November 21, 2025, which currently puts it up against Paramount's The Running Man remake starring Glen Powell.
