Will the Oscars 2025 be postponed as Los Angeles wildfires rage

Film fans are starting to question whether the 2025 Oscars will be postponed as a result of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. A state of emergency has been declared in Los Angeles due to the deadly blazes raging through southern California, which have affected thousands of residents as well as actors living in the area.
Stars like Billy Crystal, Anthony Hopkins, Leighton Meester and Adam Brody, Miles Teller, Mandy Moore, and Jeff Bridges have all lost their homes in the fires. This year’s nominations have already been delayed by two days as firefighters battle to keep the fires under control.
The nominations had been scheduled for January 17, but the stars and films up for Academy Awards will now be revealed on January 19. Voting for the nearly 10,000 Academy members - which opened on January 8 - has also been extended by two days until January 14.
Academy CEO Bill Kramer said in a letter to members last week: "We want to offer our deepest condolences to those who have been impacted by the devastating fires across southern California. "So many of our members and industry colleagues live and work in the Los Angeles area, and we are thinking of you.".
As of now, there is no change to plans for the 97th Academy Awards, which will be held on Sunday, March 2 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Comedian and chat show host Conan O’Brien is set to host the ceremony. Hacks star Jean Smart has publicly urged TV networks and streamers to "seriously consider not televising" upcoming awards shows due to the devastation caused by the fires.
