Repeat after us: 2025 is the year of cheap flights, extra legroom, and duty-free bargains. If you're sick of the snowy weather and freezing temperatures - you've probably already searched for some last minute flights to get out the UK for a much-needed week of winter sun.

To make the most of your trip, whether it be a weekend city break or fortnight holiday by the pool, Wizz Air has revealed six top tip to bagging the lowest air fare. The budget airline says it's possible to 'escape the winter gloom without breaking the bank' if you follow these little-known hacks and has confirmed the cheapest time to jet off.

"If you're seeking the cheapest places to book flights, it's best to book directly with the airline," András Rado, Head of Communications at Wizz Air, said in a statement sent to the Mirror. "While several comparison sites show flights that meet your criteria, booking through third-party sites can cost up to £50 more. By booking directly, you avoid commission fees and get a lower price.".

Flying-off peak is another tip András hailed, confirming that night time is usually the cheapest time to fly. Setting off mid-week instead of Friday can also help significantly slash the price. In fact, Wizz claims avoiding peak days can result in savings of up to £100 (plus, you'll avoid all those unpleasant crowds and queues once you get to your destination).
