The pressure's on Bellmont, as Wattimena takes advantage of a slip to score 140. That gives him the slight advantage - and he's on a 125 finish. However, he's misses the double 20 to secure the set. Bellmont can't close 140 plus, and Wattimena takes the opening set.
A 100 score gets Wattimena down to a Big Fish finish. Bellmont's 92 doesn't leave him with a finish on 216. Wattimena's the bullseye away, but misses his 170 checkout, That would have been special. However, he returns to get a double 16 to go 2-1 up. Bellmont, on a 128 finish, leaves 82.
Wattimena is miles out, but whittles his score down to 137. Bellmont's double 10 is a brilliant rescue, and he wins his first ever leg in a world championship. A 180 from the Swiss leaves him 116. He needs this to go because Wattimena leaves tops for the opening leg.
