Wrexham have landed a major coup by beating off Championship competition to land long-term target Ryan Longman. Mirror Football revealed that Longman, 24, was a target for Wrexham back in the summer off the back of an impressive loan spell at Millwall, who also gave consideration to signing the former Brighton man on a permanent basis back in the summer.

But it's Wrexham who have now agreed a deal worth around six-figures for the Hull City man, who will join their promotion push after entering the final six months of his contract at Hull. It was reported last week that Oxford were pushing to sign Longman, who was brought to The Den last season by new U's boss Gary Rowett.

But Longman is now set to undergo a medical with Wrexham before finalising a move to the League One promotion chasers, who will hope he can boost their chances of gaining automatic promotion to the Championship this season. Longman was a hit on loan with Millwall last season and finished the season strongly to help the Lions over the line in their bid to retain their Championship status, registering three goals and another three assists.

He has missed a sizeable chunk of the 2024-25 campaign through injury but already boasts over 100 Championship appearances to his name. He scored the winner in his final appearance for Hull, which was the 1-0 win at Blackburn on December 29. Ruben Selles confirmed that Longman and Ryan Giles had both been left out of the squad that beat Millwall 1-0 on Saturday with negotiations over moves ongoing.
