IT starts with a glimmer in the sky - just a pinprick of light, barely distinguishable from the stars. But this is no distant celestial body - this is a massive 2,560-foot-wide asteroid heading straight for Earth. The rock is roughly the size of Didymos, a double asteroid system studied by NASA's asteroid deflection experiments.
