A tricky new brainteaser, that 99 percent of people can’t solve, is actually easier than you might think. The video, which shows a ‘classic topology puzzle’ was shared by ‘@stunningscenes0’ on TikTok. In the video, they explain that: “A smart person can see the solution quickly but someone who isn’t as quick may never figure it out, even with lots of time.”.
They then go on to add: “This is a classic topology puzzle - the goal is to remove the gold ring from the ropes without taking the ropes off the wooden sticks at each end. The ring is solid and unbroken and the elastic rope forms a complete loop making it seem impossible to free the ring from the middle or the ends.”.
@stunningscenes0 explains that most people - around 99 percent of people - think this kind of puzzle is ‘impossible’ and that there isn’t a way to ‘remove the ring without taking off the rope’. However, with the right approach, finding the solution to this tricky brainteaser is actually easier than you might think.
They explain: “Here’s how you can get the ring out. First use your left index finger to hook the elastic rope behind the left stick and pull it forward, then use your right hand to grab the front rope from below and loop it around the left stick. “Next, use your right hand again to grab the back rope from above and loop it around the left stick again. Finally let go of the knot on your left index finger and the gold ring will come free.”.
