It's important to keep your mind active throughout the day - and there's no better way to achieve this than solving a challenging brainteaser. It prompted one brainteaser enthusiast to share their favourite mind game - saying many people struggle to solve it and simply give up on it.
In response to the Reddit thread, 'What are some of the best brainteasers in the world?', they said: "There are five bags of gold that all look identical, and each has ten gold pieces in it. One of the five bags has fake gold in it. The real gold, fake gold, and all five bags are all exactly identical in every way, except the pieces of fake gold weigh 1.1 grams, and the real gold pieces weigh 1 gram.
"You have a perfectly accurate digital gram scale and can use it only once. How do you determine which bag has the fake gold?" In response, users jumped into the comment section to share their answers - but many admitted it was too difficult to work out.
One user said: "You wouldn't care and just take the gold." Another user added: "You could leave one of the bags out of it, and if you get X.0 on the dot you know it's the one you left out." A third user said: "I guestimate by picking up the bags, then put the one that I think is heaviest on the scale.".
One more user added: "You could just weigh 4 of the bags. If they weigh 4.1 grams, the fifth bag not on the scale is real. If the scale weighs 4 grams, the fifth one is fake." Another user said: "Seriously, just take all five bags, then check them later." A final user added: "I don't get it. So you have 5 bags. 4 of them have real gold, 1 has fake gold. You take a piece of each and put them on the scale. It will just weigh 5.1 grams. How does that solve your problem?".
